TGIFL (Thank Goodness It's Friday Lunch)

This blog post was written by Izaac Cole, a student at New Mills School and Sixth Form in 2014.

An Active Lunchtime For Some, As Both The Brains And Bodies Were Worked Hard...

A range of events in both the hall and the gym - ranging from 'Higher or Lower' trickery, to 'Beat the Teacher' table tennis - kept those involved entertained. Both sixth form students and teachers supervised events, as well as encouraging students to take part. Some of the highlights involved goal scoring in 'Beat the Keeper' and 'baskets' from over-the-head basket ball hoops...

But It Wasn't Just Students Paying To Take Part...

Jack found himself entertaining Mr Chowdhury, who donated generously to see how he would fair in the Higher or Lower card game.

The overall feeling of the day was summed up by the results of the Tombola, with a crowd gathering as the tickets were drawn...

Prizes consisting of: 1st place, 2 x circle cinema tickets; 2nd place, a full box of Swizzels sweets; 3rd place, a complete school stationery set - the winners again reflecting the wide range of participation, with Rhianna taking first, Mrs Gower and Nathan taking 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

A Big Thank You...
To all those who contributed prizes, including Jemma, the finance office and Marple Regent Cinema; not to mention, all those involved in setting up and managing the event, including Jack, Jemma, Finn, Emily, George, Joe, Sam, Ellis, Liz and Jo Brooks as well as the teachers and care takers for their part in helping the event take place.
