Last Wednesday Aspire Ryde community centre, Isle of Wight, held a Purple Day to celebrate being part of the Prince solar fundraiser!
It could probably be summed up as 'go purple or go home' - purple being Prince's favourite colour. Over the whole week they've been selling purple cakes in their cafe. Then on the day, all the staff and volunteers wore purple. One person even dyed their hair purple - just for the occasion!
All their ordinary activities had a Prince theme. They kicked off with a tea dance where purple outfits made a strong showing, and they danced along to some Prince hits. Then it was the kids' turn. The after school dance club and community choir danced and sang their hearts out to Prince's Purple Rain.
They rounded the day off with pole fitness - involving a lot of purple exercise gear and Prince tracks pumping from the speakers.
In all 200 people took part in the purple day!
We're raising money for six organisations to go solar - including Aspire Ryde. Why all the purple? When Prince died, we discovered he'd been a secret solar philanthropist. So what better way to honour his legacy than Purple days and solar panels for the causes he believed in. Donate now.
