Ode to wind power

They gather as we drive towards them.

Still single entities, kitted out in greys and white,

perhaps light blue, standing tall against the sky.

Limbering up before they stride on stage.

Now a cohesive unit, they twist,

stretch arms, link hands, reach out

to balance turning feet as legs cartwheel

to one another. Stand tall upon each other’s

shoulders, reaching up and outward.

As we drive away we see them

after the performance ,  heads down,

bent double, clutching at their knees,

regaining breath.

Leave the car. Stand still and watch.

Realize that this goes on and on.

Wind turbines, endlessly performing.
